PROPERTY LOSS
CLAIMS IN SEATTLE & STATE OF WASHINGTON
---------RECENT CASES
Here are some representative, recent recoveries we have
obtained for our clients in the Seattle and Washington
area:
- Bellevue condominium. This eight-year-old condominium
was arguably well past the four-year statute of limitations.
Nevertheless, we recovered over $1.9 million from the
developer and over $75,000 from the Association’s
property insurers.
- Seattle-area retirement home. Total repair costs: $1.8
million. We recovered a total of $2.5 million from the
builders’ insurers and the property insurers, more
than enough to cover lost rents, all repairs and make
the owners whole, including all of their attorney’s
fees and costs.
- Bremerton medical building. We recovered $590,000
from the building owner’s insurers to cover the
investigation and repair of hidden damages resulting
from long-term water intrusion.
- Laurelhurst home. When the case started it appeared
the statute of limitations had passed. We fought a defense
effort to kill the claim, then recovered $1,090,000 to
repair this house, which not only paid for the costs
of repairs and attorney’s fees, but some of the
inconvenience to the owners.
- Eastside home. Total repair costs: $450,000. This case
went to trial because the builder’s insurer wanted
to play hardball. We were ready, and with the help of
a qualified expert we recovered $800,000 after trial.
- Mercer Island home. Total repair costs: $389,000.
We represented the second owner of the home
and recovered enough from the builder’s insurer
and the homeowner’s insurance company to cover
all repairs and all attorney fees and costs.
- Eastside golf course clubhouse. Despite a full-blown,
aggressive defense by the builder, we recovered $1.2
million to assist the owner with the repairs to this
luxury facility.
